What was actually said

“We found ourselves frequently switching between different coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) anytime we ran out of usage limits or a newer model came out. We became increasingly frustrated with having to re-explain our tasks, workflows, common mistake patterns, etc. anytime we switched agents.”

Background and pain

The pain

Agent memories are siloed: every switch to a new model or harness wipes accumulated conventions, workflow preferences and mistake patterns.

A buildable angle

The opening

A cross-harness agent memory layer: capture session telemetry (prompts, tool calls, corrections) and produce a universal memory file every coding agent can read. Open-source core, paid hosted sync.

How to validate it

  1. Read the whole thread and note the recurring scenarios — repetition is the density of the need.
  2. Search existing tools around "ai coding / agent memory" and check which single step they actually cover.
  3. Put up a one-line landing page, share it back to Hacker News, and see whether anyone asks about pricing.

I also built something like this for myself. I call it a markdown file.

I did too: "keep an obsidian vault of things you need to remember. make a skill for it" I don't even know how obsidian works. And I use a harness where the agents can easily look up & search other sessions, or past sessions.

You can add a reference to the source session for each note in the vault. Then you could check if this is true in the actual session instead of trusting what the note says. This is one of the ideas we used when we were building memory for Substrate. Does your agent write to the vault automatically?
