What was actually said

“Google Docs has predefined styles — Normal text, Title, Heading 1-3 — but they're paragraph-level. Can I create an inline text style?”

Background and pain

The pain

Terms and code snippets get formatted by hand over and over; no custom character styles means Word migrants lose their best trick.

A buildable angle

The opening

A Docs add-on: a character-style manager — save format combos, apply in one click, update everywhere. Subscription.

How to validate it

  1. Read the whole thread and note the recurring scenarios — repetition is the density of the need.
  2. Search existing tools around "google docs / formatting" and check which single step they actually cover.
  3. Put up a one-line landing page, share it back to Webapps Stack Exchange, and see whether anyone asks about pricing.

Google Docs doesn't include a feature for text styles, only Heading and Paragraph styles. However, there are Google Docs extensions that add that feature, and you might use Google Apps Script to add your text style handler. In the Google Docs web app, both options can be reached from the Extensions menu.
